Rosie Cooper

Hi guys I’ve been working on a few photos, creating a series of double, repeated images I find my self tampering with the overlay in both photo shop and manually with film cameras but I’ve focused on digital during Easter, because it’s quicker and easier for me to experiment there and then!
So I've been tampering with the images, I have quite a few that I've been working on the last few weeks, some of which are not going to be in my finals but all stacked up and stored in folders, pictures, unseen, but a window into the digital visual development.

Understanding the theme is Subconscious I have gathered inspiration from the self- consciousness, and the conscious and the unpleasant feeling of when one realises that one is being watched or observed, you think how you have acted, or how others might feel to ones response:
So the untouched clear portrait of the faces represents the consciousness.
The faded double image repeated depicts the idea of Subconscious.

The double overlay I am playing around with hopefully expresses the notion of not always being aware of what we say, or do, what we love and how we act in responses can be subconscious, represents of our physical layers that we build on top of.

my initial idea was to create a 'free drawing' over my photography, but I have yet to do so and instead of physically attempting to be upon the 'subconscious' I want to more explain, my interruption of subconscious to me with the visual photographic based images with mapping, experimental techniques, however my idea has changed a lot through the weeks! So I'm just experimenting with all these ideas to see what works out the best and what I feel works the best with our theme!

These are just my experimental images and probably won't be my final images just my first trial and error.

So today I took the plunge and made a video of myself, something I've never done before, but part of my face was covered so it wasn't as daunting as it could have been. For our theme the subconscious I decided to try and create 3D automatic drawings using clay. I was listening to calming music while I was doing this as cars were outside, my dog was moving around and I was finding it hard to concentrate in pure silence. So yeah, I was blindfolded, listening to panpipes and modelling clay; you can come to your own conclusions about my subconscious. From the little models I created I hope to make architectural drawings becoming more conscious of the outcome. I think I'm going to do this experiment again with bigger amounts of clay pieces and I think it would look better if there were more of them maybe covering a table top surface.
